ANAMNESIS

FLAMER — Leather Dress

“Anamnesis is an act of remembering through the body. Built through shared effort, exchange, and collaboration, the event exists between what was felt and what remains. It gathers artists, designers, and performers into a single moment where memory surfaces not as nostalgia, but as presence.”

ANAMNESIS took place in Austin in the fall of 2025. The installation brought together couture fashion, photographic works, and live film environments, allowing each to operate in the same space. Rather than separating disciplines, the event let them overlap, shifting between stillness and movement, image and presence. The work looked back across the studio’s history without treating it as fixed, allowing earlier ideas to reappear in new forms.

Fashion moved through the installation as something active rather than displayed. Garments by Flamer and Angels Need Angels were worn and carried through the space, experienced alongside sound, projection, and performance. The presentation avoided the structure of a traditional runway, favoring circulation and proximity. Clothing became part of the environment, absorbed into the flow of the night. Photographed by Eli Samuel and directed by Hannah Varnell, ANAMNESIS was documented as it unfolded. The images remain close to the event, attentive to gesture, atmosphere, and interaction. Rather than summarizing what happened, the photographs hold fragments of it, preserving the physical and temporal qualities of the experience.
